Story Telling will always win.
bmspoileralert:
There was always resistance to the idea of having a narrative in my show. IE. An ongoing storyline or even a self contained storyline.
But, I think this week’s episode proves, based on the overwhelming comments on youtube and the main site: that Story Telling will always win.
There’s a reason why it’s been around since the dawn of time.
How do you engage an audience?
How do...

The Media is Thriving
Reblogged from Rick Webb:
So, I’ve been following The Media is Dying twitter feed for a while. It’s interesting, and good information. It bums me out a bit, but I also love the strange feel that it gives you that you’re actually watching the media die in real time. It’s a really good think piece.
Most of my thinking, however, has been trending towards the fact that this is all being blown out...
Putting Yourself Out There
by Mo Koyfman:
A very close friend recently complained to me that he found Twitter to be nothing more than a vehicle for narcissism.
I’ve been chewing on his point for a few days now as my rebuttal at the time didn’t feel particularly inspired. While I implicitly knew that Twitter was so much more than that, I was having trouble cogently explaining why.
So I was delighted to see an amazing...

Some Streamy recommendations
The Streamy Awards are a new award created to honor the best work in television for the web, and nominations need to be in by 11:59 PM tomorrow night. Anyone can nominate a series or person for an award by going to the site.
Of course I’d love Next New Networks’ work to get some nominations, but I wanted to personally lobby for some exceptional people, that I’ve both worked...

President Obama's Inaugural Address →
Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

D.C. gets its close-up
Adams-Morgan, about a block from my old place. Photo by Sean Bonner.
As someone who until recently was a resident of Washington for twelve years, it’s fun watching D.C. have its biggest moment in a long time. When I was there, getting friends to visit from places like New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco was a pretty rare event, but this week, I’m seeing many of them converging on...

Prettify* — Nice icons and wallpapers →
Created by Garrett Murray, who says, “I’ve been complaining recently on Twitter that there is no good place to find icons and wallpapers that appeal to my taste (read: very high quality design), so I started my own.”
I’ve been meaning to mention this for a while, but Michael Lewis’ article in December 2008’s Portfolio about the end of Wall Street’s boom could be the best article I’ve ever read, and it’s certainly the must-read article of the year. Lewis, who chronicled the culture at Salomon Brothers leading up to the ‘87 Wall Street crash in Liar’s Poker, just...
